La journée s’est étirée en longueur avec l’affaissement de la tramontane qui soufflait pourtant encore ce matin. Peu après le coup d’envoi de la première course, le Comité a dû sonner l’annulation, le vent s’étant totalement dissipé. Retour à terre pour les 73 équipages qui n’ont regagné le plan d’eau qu’à 14h00 pour une deuxième et vaine tentative. C’est donc un jour sans !
Axel Grandjean et Noémie Fehlman (SUI), Thomas Proust et Noémie Clabon (FRA), Manolo Gueslin Grimaud et Marion Declef (FRA) occupent aujourd’hui le podium provisoire. Mais rien n’est acquis pour ce trio. Avec quatre manches prévues demain vendredi, dans un vent qui va faire son retour sur le plan d’eau, pratiquement tout le top 10 peut espérer monter sur la boîte.
On peut néanmoins s’attendre à un gros duel franco-suisse, les deux premiers concurrents n’étant séparés que d’un point seulement. Derrière, la troisième marche du podium est extrêmement ouverte avec six tandems en 7 points. Tous sont remontés à bloc pour offrir un fantastique final bourré de suspense !
Demain, en effet, il faudra tout donner et exceller, car les prétendants au sacre sont désormais réunis dans le même groupe : il y aura forcément du brassage et tout se jouera peut-être à très peu de points.
Le vent de nord-nord-ouest devrait être bien établi dès la fin de matinée et souffler entre 12 et 18 nœuds… des conditions qui devraient être favorables aux teams à l’aise dans le médium/fort.

Manolo GESLIN GRIMAUD/ Marion DECLEF (FRA), 3e au classement à 9 points du leader : « Tout va se jouer le dernier jour, ça va être intéressant ! On va surveiller un peu nos adversaires, mais il faudra quand même faire nos manches et jouer devant. On maîtrise bien la brise, donc ça va bien se passer je pense. A Silvaplana aux Championnats d’Europe (cet été), on était 2e avant le dernier jour et avant la dernière manche, on gagnait le championnat (ils finissent finalement 3e) donc on sait à quel point les dernières journées et les dernières régates sont importantes ! »
Bart KOOIJMAN / Femme BEUK (NED), 5e à 13 points du leader : « On n’est pas si mécontents de l'annulation aujourd’hui, parce qu’on est meilleurs dans la brise que dans le petit temps. Mais demain, ça va envoyer ! On va faire de notre mieux, être à fond pour progresser au classement, monter sur le podium au général et dans le classement des moins de 19 ans. »
Camille RIGAUD/ Julien MOUTARDE (FRA) : 7e à 16 points du leader : « On fait une deuxième journée un peu difficile sur le championnat, donc nous ne sommes pas dans nos objectifs. Demain, il y a du vent, on a le couteau entre les dents et l’envie d’en découdre. On essaye de ne pas trop regarder le classement et les points sinon, on se prend trop la tête. Demain, il va falloir être rapide, se faire plaisir et que le meilleur gagne ! »

Le Nacra15 en bref
Le Nacra 15 est un catamaran de 4,7 mètres équipé de dérives courbes (premier stade avant les foils) réservé à des équipages mixtes ou open dans les catégories U17 à U19. Petit frère du Nacra17 olympique il est reconnu série internationale par la World Sailing (Fédération Internationale de Voile) et est le support jeune pour les épreuves World Sailing (championnats internationaux) et pour les JOJ, Jeux Olympiques de la Jeunesse. Il constitue aujourd’hui la série d’appel avant le passage au 17 pieds.

Who will be crowned Nacra15 2021 world champion?

The strong Tramontana wind which blowing this morning dropped suddenly and shortly after the start of the first race, the race officers had to sound the cancellation, the wind having completely disappeared. And so it was a return to shore for the 73 crews at the Nacra 15 World Championships today and they then did not return to the water until 2:00 p.m. for a second, ultimately unsuccessful attempt. So it's a day with no racing off La Grande Motte in the South of France.
Axel Grandjean and Noémie Fehlman (SUI), Thomas Proust and Noémie Clabon (FRA), Manolo Gueslin Grimaud and Marion Declef (FRA) still hold the provisional podium. But nothing is certain for these three crews. With four races scheduled for tomorrow Friday and the forecast for a decent racing breeze to return to the race area, practically any team in the top 10 can realistically harbor hopes of finishing on the podium.
What is most likely is a big Franco-Swiss duel, the top two crews being separated by only one point. Behind, the third step of the podium is extremely open with six teams all on seven points. All have converged to deliver a fantastic finale full of suspense!
Tomorrow is the time to deliver, to call on all the racing and training experiences and chase the best possible result. The north-northwest wind should be well established by the end of the morning and at race time be blowing between 12 and 18 knots ... conditions which should be favorable for pairs comfortable in the medium / strong breeze.

Tomorrow is windy, we have a knife between our teeth and we want to do battle. We try not to look too much at the standings and the points otherwise, we take too much head. Tomorrow, we'll have to be quick, have fun and may the best win! "
The Nacra15 in brief
The Nacra 15 is a 4.7-meter catamaran equipped with curved daggerboards (first stage before the foils) reserved for mixed crews in the U17 to U19 categories. Little sister of the Olympic Nacra17, it is recognized as an international series by the World Sailing (International Sailing Federation) and is the youth class for World Sailing events (international championships) and for the YOG, Youth Olympic Games. It is now the pathway series before the switch to 17-footer.
